Do you have a dog that gets cold easily? Do you know how to knit? You can help keep your pup warm with a homemade sweater! Henry isn’t the biggest fan of sweaters, but I’ve made him a few for the coldest winter days. I don’t use dog sweater patterns because I’ve been knitting for a long time and I like to make them up as I go along, but there are plenty of patterns available online for those who want to take on the challenge! I’ve rounded up seven of my favorites, so keep reading to get inspired!
Seven Free Dog Sweater Patterns
This sweater reminds me of a couple that I own for myself. Cabled sweaters are so classic and timeless, so you dog will be warm and stylish for years.

Look at this little preppy guy! So cute. He even has a little popped collar! The buttons are adorable too.
Recommended Yarn: Berroco Vintage
Another adorable and classic cabled sweater! I love the detail on this sweater – look at the ribbed chest and detailed pattern on the back.
Recommended Yarn: Red Heart Super Saver
This sweater was inspired by a Pug, but that doesn’t mean you need a Pug to knit one! It comes in several sizes and is easy to adapt.
This was the first dog sweater I ever made! I knitted one for my former roommate’s pit bull mix several years ago. I remember it being easy to knit and absolutely adorable.
Recommended Yarn: Bernat Super Value
I LOVE this sweater! It actually reminds me a lot of one that I made for Henry (see it here). This sweater is definitely for the trendy, stylish pup in your life.
Recommended Yarn: Plymouth Encore Worsted Weight
