This week’s Small Business Spotlight highlights LA Doggy, a Los Angeles-based company that sells handmade accessories for your dog! We talked to one of the team members, Laura, about her products, the history of LA Doggy, and her dog, Bentley! Where are you located?
We are located in Sunny Los Angeles California.
How long have you been in business?
We have been in business for about 9 months.
How would you describe your business?
Our style can be described as modern with an emphasis on creating pieces that are stylish, durable, timeless, and affordable all while giving a bit back. We donate 10% of our profits to help dogs find homes because we believe that dogs truly are man’s best friend.
What kind of items do you sell?
We currently create Dog Bow Ties and Dahlia Felt Flowers, which slip onto your dog’s collar, and Dog Bandanas, which tie around the neck. We are in the process of creating new products and are hoping to expand our product range a great deal by Spring/Summer 2016.
Do you have any new or exciting items that you would like to highlight?
Our Dahlia Felt Flowers are fairly new and we love them (even if they take a painstakingly long time to create). We believe that these will become very popular as they are totally unique from other handmade dog accessories that are currently seen on the market.
Do you have any pets?
Yes! I, Laura, have a Pit Bull named Bentley (her Instagram is @mypitbullfriend) and 2 Cats, White Lightning and Samayah.
Tell us about the humans behind your business!
We are siblings. Sam, a skilled Senior Web Developer, is the younger of us and more behind the scenes, taking care of the business aspect of things. I, Laura, am the older one and the creating force who hand makes each item with love. I started creating Dog Bow Ties for my dog Bentley and then decided that I wanted to expand and voila, LA Doggy was born.
What else would you like readers to know?
We would like to let readers know that as a small business we really go the extra mile to ensure that we provide you, the consumer, with a product that you will love and be proud to purchase for your pet. If you had one tip to share with a dog owner trying to care for and spoil his or her pet on a budget, what would it be?
It is definitely possible to afford quality handmade products for your pet without breaking the bank. By buying from small businesses you get the time and attention to detail along with a unique product that you wouldn’t find with a larger corporation. This will give you a more personal experience and you can feel better knowing that you purchased an awesome product at a great price!
