Spotlight On Jazal Color
Where are you located?
We design and ship all our Jazal Color products at our Los Angeles, California location. In addition, we
frequently travel to the city of Antigua in Guatemala, teaming up with local artisans and other small
businesses to manufacture our collections.
How long have you been in business?
We launched our Jazal Color website in November 2016, and have been in business for almost one year.
How would you describe your business?
At Jazal Color, we believe that all our products can offer style, comfort, durability, and a deep connection
to history and culture. We offer one-of- a-kind Mayan textile accessories that show the world the beautiful
colors their culture has to offer.
What kind of items do you sell?
We design and create our Jazal Color products from Guatemalan textiles of the Mayan cortes (wrap-
around skirt). Each corte is woven on a foot powered treadle loom, resulting in an especially unique
pattern, which varies, depending on the style in a particular region.
Do you have any new or exciting items that you would like to highlight?
Yes, we have many exciting pet collar bandanas, which come in an array of colorful Mayan textile
patterns and sizes. Soon, we are looking forward to expanding our products to include pet leashes and
beds!
Do you have any pets?
Yes, we cherish our rescue dogs, past and present.
Tell us about the Team behind your business!
The Team behind Jazal Color are Jazmin and Alberto. Jazal is a contraction of our names Jaz (Jazmin)
and al (Alberto).
Jazmin is in charge of advertising, marketing campaigns, SEO, photography and the most important key
of a small business: finances.
Alberto used to work as an Architect in Guatemala, passionate for design and delighted by the colorful
patterns of the textiles, he decided to find another use for these beautiful textiles. He is in charge of all
products design. He also maintains the site updated and keeps it running to give our customers a good
experience
We believe our team is a perfect combination of talent, knowledge (and fun) that’s reflected in our
products.
What else would you like readers to know?
One of our great joys in running our business is in the form of the artisans we work with. These are
products that take advantage of vintage handmade textiles. Using the corte (Mayan women’s wrap dresses) and huipil (Mayan women’s blouse), we combine these wonderful textiles with more traditional
fabrics. We wish for you to love our products as much as we do!
If you had one tip to share with a dog owner trying to care for and spoil his or her pet on a budget, what
would it be?
This tip is for first dog owners. Dog toys are part of raising a dog. Toys do more than just entertain your
dog for a few minutes a day. While a dog is playing with a toy they are doing exercise. Certain toys, like
chew bones, rope tug or a plush squeaker, give your dog an approved outlet on which to satisfy their
instinctual drive to gnaw on something.
