Poop: it’s a daily reality for dog owners. We deal with so much poop that sometimes we run out of poop bags. What if I told you that there’s a poop bag rolls subscription that not only ensures that you’ll never be bagless, but also helps animal rescues? I’m talking about Gemma Rose Project, of course!

Gemma Rose Project Poop Bag Rolls

Almost a year ago, we introduced you to Gemma Rose Project, a New York-based business that sells high-quality, lightly scented poop bags that benefit animal rescues. At the time, they only offered tie bags — but they now also come in easy to use rolls!

Never Run Out!

Once upon a time, I almost started a poop bag subscription service. By “almost started,” I mean that I ran out of poop bags, decided it was a brilliant idea, and then did absolutely nothing to pursue it. (To be fair, I already have multiple businesses in addition to a full-time job. It wasn’t going to happen.) Gemma Rose Project, however, has your back! Not only are their poop bags superior quality, you can sign up for a subscription service and never run out. Amazing!

You can choose how often you want to receive deliveries (every month, every other month, or every four months) and save $1 on shipping fees each time. Plus, committing to several boxes help set up recurring contributions to rescues. More on that in a bit!

Superior Quality

These poop bags are great. I have tried many kinds of poop bags in my years as a Dog Mom, and these are fabulous. When I tested Gemma Rose Project’s tie bags in January, I even filled one with water to test for leakage — not a drip, not a drop. The plastic is thick without being too bulky and is relatively easy to open. I do have to lick my fingers occasionally to get a good grip, but I’ve yet to find a rolled poop bag that didn’t require this.

Each roll contains 15 bags and — get this — a recycled paper core. I LOVE THAT! I have a severe dislike of the plastic cores in most poop bag rolls. They’re both wasteful and annoying. I feel so much better knowing that these cores are not only made from recycled material but can be recycled as well.

The rolls bags also have the same signature rose scent that the tie bags have — the perfect amount to mask the poop smell without being too overpowering.

Plus, Gemma Rose Project bags are made with EPI technology. This means that they will break down in the proper environment by way of oxo-biodegradation. I often feel guilty using plastic bags on a daily basis, but it’s a necessity in the city. With Gemma Rose Project bags, I feel much better.

Funding For Rescues

Inspired by Gemma Rose, the founder’s dog, Gemma Rose Project is committed to donating $1 per box sold to a deserving animal rescue organization. Each organization is vetted by Gemma Rose Project, and over $700 has been donated so far! Animal resuce is SO important to me, and I love that giving to deserving organizations is the driving force behind this businesses.

  1. I love that the bags are rose-scented. That cracks me up. I also love that you tested the bags with water. And of course, that they break down unlike other plastic bags – and hurray for donating to rescues!

  2. I love that this company donates a dollar from each purchase to a rescue. Poop bags are a necessity for most of us and if some of the proceeds can donate pets in need, all the better.

  3. It was about a year ago I began to think about the differences in animal feces bags. I love that these break down and help protect our environment! Also, the rose scent sounds rather nice! I need to give these a try!

  4. I am not a dog person (as you know) but I love this idea for dog owners. Having seen the ‘stuff’ left behind by some people with big dogs – and the owners just don’t seem to bother grrr…..

I love that it is a visible colour, conveniently latches on to a lead and it also gives back. It is so easy NOT to bother – to go for the top profit line but Thank You Gemma Rose for a product that ‘does what it says on the tin’.

PS Well done top canine model Henry!!!!

What an interesting idea. I have of course heard of similar services for pet food, skincare etc… but never for poop bags!! I particularly like supporting businesses that give back, especially to causes so close to my heart. Thanks for sharing and letting us know about this compassionate company.

I love supporting businesses that give back, too! It’s an easy way to make the world a bit of a better place 🙂

  6. What a great company to be giving back to animal rescues! We go through a lot of bags with two big dogs 🙂 Our only wish is that everyone would be conscious of picking up after their dogs! It’s so important to the health of other animals.

Agreed! It’s ridiculous how bad it can be. Our new neighborhood is much better than our old neighborhood, thankfully.

  7. I love that they have a light smell which makes it so much better to carry around full or empty, and that the core is recycled is just amazing, plus plus that they give back to rescues is I think on top of my list.

All points that I LOVE! I can;t tell you how giddy I was when I finished my first roll and found that recycled core 🙂

  8. I have never heard of a subscription service for poop bags. It’s a great idea though. I love that the Gemma Rose Project gives back to animal rescues too. What an impressive poop bag.. LOL

“Impressive” is a good word for it! They’re top-notch in every regard!

  9. This sounds like a great idea. As an introvert, I really love subscription boxes! I can only imagine how many bags people who live in cities use in a week. My dogs do most of their business in the back yard. But of course, I always care bags (a few more than I think I’ll need) when I take them on walks.

    • TheBrokeDog Reply

I go through SO many! I agree — subscription boxes are great! PLus, it’s fun to get mail 🙂

  10. Poop bag subscriptions is a good idea – I need bags that are easy to open so I’m not struggling on the curb with my dog pulling (or running off) while I’m desperately trying to separate the plastic to open the bag. I go through two or three bags a day because my dog will only poop on walks (in public).

I hate the awkward shuffle to open bags! Their tie bags are REALLY easy to open — you can see them on the Gemma Rose Project site! 🙂

  11. A poop bag subscription is a great idea. I love that Gemma Rose supports animal rescues with their sales. Plus they are environmentally friendly. Sounds like a win, win, win product!

    • TheBrokeDog Reply

I agree! I hope they have great success so that they can help lots of animals in need!

  12. What? A poop bag subscription service is completely genius. How has no one thought of this before? I love this company’s entire vibe. Bright color, biodegradable, cardboard core, and helping rescues. I will definitely be looking into these. We use poop bags on walks or during the winter in our yard when the pooper scooper freezes (yeah gross).

  13. I love the rose scent, and the subscription service is great for people like me, who don’t live near a pet supply store. It’s beyond annoying when I have to find a substitute for the poop bags when I run out of them. And of course, knowing that my purchase is environmentally friendly AND helps other dogs is a wonderful bonus!

  14. What a great idea! I’m always running out & resorting to grocery bags I sock away & save like a squirrel saves nuts! I like that the core isn’t plastic.
