How long have you been in business?
Dogwood Trl has been in business for about 2 months, but has been in the works for almost a year now!
How would you describe your business?
We make custom leather dog collars that are designed by our customers and made to order. Each product is made once an order is placed which allows us to reduce waste and make personalized products.
We believe that the power to create needs to be put into the hands of the customer because ultimately, this will lead to companies producing less waste and higher quality products.
What kind of items do you sell?
Dogwood Trl sells customizable leather dog collars and engravable wooden dog tags.
Do you have any new or exciting items that you would like to highlight?
We are actually going to be giving away free engravable wooden dog tags! You will be able to customize them and choose what type of wood you would like to use. We wanted a way for people to be able to try our customizing software with no risk.
Do you have any pets?
Yes! We currently have a Yorkie Schnauzer mix and an Australian Shepard Terrier mix. Both are rescues and every day is a new adventure with them. It is a daily struggle for us to not adopt a third dog!
Tell us about the humans behind your business!
Carter & Tom! We met about 2 years about in New Jersey and found that we had a lot in common. We have been dating ever since and decided we wanted to start a business together. We both had a long list of crazy ideas and were able to focus on one of our passions, dogs!
What else would you like readers to know?
Collars, leashes, and harnesses remain some of the most requested items at animal shelters. Approximately 6.5 million companion animals enter U.S. shelters every year. When we first heard this statistic we knew we had to help in some way. We started Dogwood Trl to make a positive impact on our community in self-expression but knew there was more we could be doing. Dogwood Trl will be accepting used collars, leashes, and harnesses that will be donated to animals in these shelters. In return, you will receive 20% off of your next purchase. Learn more here!
If you had one tip to share with a dog owner trying to care for and spoil his or her pet on a budget, what would it be?
Many common items you see online for sale are quite easy to make yourself(besides custom dog collars)! For instance, you could probably make about 15-20 bandanas out of fabric from Joann Fabrics for the price you pay for one on Etsy or similar sites. They are fairly easy to make and you can choose your own fabric!
