This summer, I had the honor of taking my sister’s engagement photos. It was a nice change of pace, and I was actually able to use some of the tips I picked up as a dog photographer to help make these portraits extra special. Keep reading to learn four of my favorites!
4 Engagement Shoot Tips From a Dog Photographer
Disclaimer: These photos and this post are a joke! Please don’t take any of these tips seriously 😉
1.)Â hug It Out!
Hugs are all the rage. Lots of talented photographers have been capturing stunning and adorable photos of their furry friends sharing an embrace — like this beautiful image from Instagram-famous Kelly Bove. If your couple knows how, encourage them to cuddle up! They’ll cherish this unique shot for years.
2.) Give Me a Sign!
Signs proclaim anything you want loud and clear! Handwritten fonts are especially popular these days. Try adorable messages such as, “She Said Yes!,” “Save The Date!,” or the actual date of the couple’s wedding. A cute rope around the neck means that no hands are needed! Here are some more great sign ideas from Pinterest.
3.) Action Shots!
Action shots add drama and intrigue to your standard portrait. Plus, everyone loves silly faces! Try tossing a snack or toy at the couple and capture their adorable reactions. Open mouths, bulging eyes — big reactions make captivating photos!
4.) Pucker Up!
An engagement shoot is meant to celebrate love, after all — make sure the newlyweds share a big ol’ kiss! The slobberier, the better!
Don’t Worry!
Don’t worry — my sister got real engagement photos, not just these silly ones! A big thanks to Kelsey and her fiancé Malcolm for being such great sports. A big thank you as well to Jodi of Kol’s Notes for inspiring this post.
